Bird Watching 5 - Providence, Rhode Island, June 6 - October 1998

One Capital Hill Plaza State Administration Office Building

June 7 - October 14, 1998 - Jane's "Bird Watching Project" migrated to Rhode Island. Jane installed "Bird Watching 6" at the State Office Building Plaza in downtown Providence, Rhode Island, as part of the annual Convergence Art Festival. Janes's art installation in Providence was commissioned by the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and the State Department of Administration in cooperation with the Convergence Festival of Providence.

Jane's temporary installation of 60 birds on the plaza will be on view all summer in this outdoor area used by many state workers for lunch and relaxation. Some of the birds are installed on the roof of a gazebo, and many are perched on platforms around the light poles in planted areas on the plaza.
