Jane will be presenting papermaking workshops and exhibiting her installation work using handmade paper in Utica area public schools during the Spring 2000 semester. During the workshops Jane will work with students to create a collaborative site specific installation art work using handmade paper made by the children during the workshops. Jane's schedule included a week-long
residency/exhibition at Clinton Elementary and Middle School, Clinton, NY,
beginning January 10, 2000. At Clinton School Jane exhibited her
installations "The Map Room" and "Ganglia." Jane's 1-day workshops in papermaking and installation art with an exhibition will be presented at the following schools: West Winfield Elementary School, West
Winfield, NY This program is organized and administered by the Arts in Education Institute of the Central New York Community Arts Council and is modeled after the program begun at Lincoln Center in 1975. The program brings professional artists into the schools to work as partners with teachers to further aesthetic education. Aesthetic Education Institute, Rochester, New York, April - May 2000. Jane will also be offering workshops and residencies in the Rochester area schools during the months of April and May 2000. This program is sponsored by the Aesthetic Education Institute. Jane will be working with students on papermaking and installation projects in seven Rochester schools. Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, Statewide Artist Workshop Program, April 2000. Jane will again go to the state of Virginia for a week in April 2000 to offer handmade paper sculpture workshops at art centers in Staunton, Lynchburg and Courtland, VA. NEW WRITING PROJECTS
An article about Jane's recent residency in Japan will appear in the Summer issue of HAND PAPERMAKING magazine. This article tells of her experiences in Japan at the Paper Art Village Project in Mino City, Sept. 9. - Dec. 9, 1999.
