WORKSHOP AT SEASTONE PAPER

The week of July 27 - 31 Jane taught a workshop called "Paper in Public" at Seastone Paper on Martha's Vineyard. During this workshop Jane covered how to use handmade paper for sculpture in public art installations, and participants created a large scale collaborative handmade paper installation work. The piece called "Earth, Air, Water, Paper" consisted of 7 triangular shaped shelter/sail like forms made of handmade paper with bamboo armatures. Each of the participants in the workshop created their own unique part of the group installation. The piece was installed at Menemsha Beach and remained on public view until sunset. One of the exciting things for the artists was the public interaction at the beach. Many people enjoyed the work and expressed their appreciation to the artists.
