Saturday was the final day to work on "Leave Taking." We had gotten most of the job completed with the exception of putting all the leaves on. We were hoping for good weather, but it continued to rain. So, with the help of some volunteers we installed the leaves in the rain in order to have the piece ready for the tour scheduled at 1PM. The artists all talked about their work and explained it to the Connemara volunteers, so that they would be able to lead other groups through the sculpture installations and help to maintain the pieces. You can see all the 1998 Connemara sculptures by going to the Connemara Web page It has the artists listed.
Everyone went to Jane's installation and listened to her presentation.
Then everyone began to pick up the leaves that had fallen to the ground. This really made it a participatory art work.
On Sunday we went back to the "Leave Taking" and it looked very good. Some leaves were on the ground. The fog, rain/snow gave the installation a mystic look.
We have since heard from Amy. "Leave Taking" is holding up well, and new leaves are being added. The exhibit will stay up through May 18.
I want to thank everyone who helped with the project. It was a wonderful experience, and I hope that visitors to the exhibit will enjoy the piece.
